Guidelines for Submitting a Manuscript

Overall Learning Objective

Psychiatrists and other clinicians who contribute and subscribe to Essential Psychopharmacology will bring enhanced insight, an expanded psychiatric skill set, and raised awareness of clinically relevant issues, challenges, and updates that arise in the psychopharmacology. Emphasis should be placed on comparative analyses of various treatments, drug-drug interactions, risks and benefits of utilizing one treatment over another, and side-effect profiles.

Manuscript Guidelines

1. All articles should be typewritten, double-spaced, and approximately 14-20 pages or 4000-6000 words long; special reports are are approximately 8-10 pages or 2000-4000 words long (not including the references or study aids at the end of the manuscript).

2. Be sure to include the following author information:

a. Complete names of all authors as they should appear in print
b. Credentials, current position, name and address of affiliation

3. Use headings and sub-headings throughout the text. Please underline major headings and place a colon [:] after sub-headings.

4. Be sure to cite all references numerically (per AMA style) within the body of the article and list in corresponding order at the end of the article. Please review examples.

If you include additional references for suggesting reading, please separate this list from text references, and list sources alphabetically by author at the end of the article.

5 . Charts, tables, or other supplemental material are welcome. Please include digital files of complex figures and tables.

6. The author is responsible for securing permission to reprint and/or adapt any lines of text, figures, or tables taken from other sources in his or her manuscript.

7. Please send your manuscript as an e-mail attachment to editorial@hatherleigh.com. Files should be saved on a CD-ROM as a Microsoft Word file or in a rich text format (RTF). Alternatively, you may send your manuscript on a (3.5") disk. Please include a hardcopy of your manuscript with your CD or disk.

8. Enclose the curriculum vita of all authors with your submission.

Faculty Disclosure

All published authors are required to complete a disclosure form to disclose relationships with pharmaceutical and other commercial companies if they exist if manuscripts are accepted for publication.

Peer-review of all submitted articles within two months of receipt.
